ARCpoint Labs Hopes to Reduce Student Drug Use
One new local business owner is hoping to help promote awareness of the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse through the National Red Ribbon Campaign.
“I think this is a great opportunity to teach, especially children, about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. I think shining the light and educating our youth is the most important thing we can do to prevent drug and alcohol abuse,” said Robert Goodman, owner of ARCpoint Labs of Southern Maryland.
ARCpoint Labs provides drug, alcohol and DNA testing, using samples of urine, saliva, nails or hair.
Goodman opened his doors Oct. 12 following a 25-year career in the U.S. Navy and four years as a military contractor.
“I thought it was a great opportunity to help the Southern Maryland community, while having my own business,” said Goodman, a St. Mary’s County resident. “That’s how I got into this business.”
“We’re neat, clean, and we’re going to get people through here as soon as possible,” Goodman said.
The National Red Ribbon Week Campaign is sponsored by the nonprofit National Family Partnership as a way to bring awareness to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities, according to its website.
