Oral Fluid Testing (Instant vs Lab Based)
Oral Fluid Testing (saliva testing) is one of the best ways to determine if a substance has been used within the last 24-48 hours. This is most common method of determining recent alcohol use.
Oral fluids are not used to detect historical alcohol use, since alcohol evaporates anywhere from 12 to 24 hours. However, an oral fluid (saliva) test is used in emergency situations, where recent alcohol use must be detected immediately.
This includes accidents where vehicles and equipment drivers are involved.
Taking an Oral Fluid Sample
- A pad is placed between the lower cheek and gums for two to five minutes.
- Once saturated, the pad is tested.
Lab Based Oral Fluid Testing
Saliva testing has proven to be a consistently reliable method of drug and alcohol testing. Our lab-based oral fluid testing services follow the chain of custody. Trained collectors gather the specimen and order testing, ensuring accurate and reliable results every time.
Instant Oral Fluid Testing
We can deliver results (negative or non-negative) within minutes. A non-negative result will be sent on to a lab for further evaluation if suspicion of drug or alcohol use is still present.
On-site Post-Accident Testing
ARCpoint Labs can also provide on-site post-accident testing. In the event of an accident, contact us immediately.
Our mobile team will come equipped to collect oral fluids to determine if drugs or alcohol were present in an individual’s system at the time of accident.
